A little about ME...I started creating jewelry as a hobby back in my late teenage years. My drive for entrepreneurship and business took me to Kansas State University where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Business. While earning my degree and during my first full-time job, I continued to learn and practice silversmithing and jewelry making. I was lucky enough to already have a mom and grandma in the art business so they began to help me sell my creations and get me started. After I sold my first pieces I was so thrilled that someone loved my pieces so much that they spent their hard earned money on something I created! That was the moment I realized that I do what I love for a living so I took a leap of faith and started selling my creations at Art Fairs and created my website www.tommicrystaldesigns.com. After my second daughter was born, I traded in my office job and began to focus on my art and my kids. I, along with my art, continue to grow as each year passes. I'm currently pursuing my Bachelors of Fine Art in Metalsmithing and I'm loving every minute of it. I learn something new everyday and I'd like to share it with YOU in the works I create!
A little about MY PROCESS...Each piece of my jewelry is created by my little hands in my home studio! I love working with my hands and I love working in all types of mediums. I create my art using torches, saws, wax, files, enamels, precious metals, base metals, vintage jewelry, drills, hammers, glass, ephemera, various chemicals and the list goes on. Each piece has it's own creative and technical process. I like each of my pieces to have a lot of meaning to the one who'll be wearing it. This means keeping up with trends and what is going on in the world and countless hours of research is put into this process. I also like to create custom pieces for my customers because a special personalized piece touches someone's heart more than anything!
